SSPDT provides grant funding to help schools and communities create and grow piping and drumming opportunities for young people across Scotland.
Developing sustainable programmes is central to SSPDT’s vision and to achieve this we work on a matched funding basis. Ideally we work with programmes to ensure a minimum of three different income streams support a school pipe band’s delivery plan.
Our grants are designed to break down barriers to participation and we priortise applications which tackle; socioeconomic deprivation, rural deprivation and gender inequality.
We fund tuition, instruments, and innovative projects that widen access, strengthen local programmes, and give young people the chance to learn, perform, and belong.
By investing in local partners who share our values, we help ensure piping and drumming can thrive in every corner of Scotland, not just where resources already exist.
All grant applications are reviewed by our projects committee which consists of three Trustees as well as SSPDT staff.

We understand that running pipe bands can be expensive. Experience tells us that finding funding for tuition and travel is hardest to achieve which is why SSPDT invests in these. Unfortunately we don’t fund;
